Janet is reported to be starring in an upcoming movie alongside Tyler Perry, Jill Scott and Sharon Leal. The film, based on the Perry’s stage play of the same name, will be called “Why Did I Get Married?”.
According to Variety Magazine, the fourth film in Perry’s lucrative franchise revolves around a couple who go away with friends every winter to examine their marriages in a group setting. One of the wives brings along a sexy young temptress who causes plenty of trouble for the couples.
Perry is writing, directing and producing for Lionsgate and the film starts shooting on March 5th in Whistler, British Columbia; Vancouver and then Atlanta.
Janet was at a party sponsored by Hennesey last night to celebrate the launch of the latest edition of Giant Magazine featuring Jennifer Hudson. The party, held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, was attended by other celebrities such as Jamie Foxx, Marques Houston, Serena Williams and Vivaca Fox. Janet attended with choreographer Gil Duldulao.
Despite rumours that dates for Janet’s upcoming tour would be released on Valentine’s Day, this has not taken place. In a new posting to his blog, choreographer and friend Gil Duldulao hinted that the release of the dates and perhaps even the tour itself will be postponed due to matters getting caught up in red tape. Watch this space.
Despite not winning a Grammy last night, Janet put in an appearance at boyfriend Jermaine Dupri’s ‘Atlanta Invasion’ party. The party that took place at the Pacific Theatre in Hollywood saw guests such as P Diddy, Naomi Campbell, Nelly, Johnta Austin, Ne Yo, Nicole Scherzinger and Quincy Jones in attendance. Janet was photographed with her favourite bottled water, Fiji.
Tonight Grammy’s show will see Janet in the running for Best Contemporary Album with her latest 20 Y.O. But Janet isn’t the only of her former touring group that is up for a Grammy. Remember Rebecca Valadez, backing singer on the Velvet Rope Tour? She’s in the running for best Tejano album with her self-titled album. Good luck to both.
Janet was at Clive Davis’ Pre-Grammy party last night held at the Beverly Hills Hilton hotel. Janet attended with boyfriend Jermaine Dupri and friend Gil Duldulao. Other guests at the party included Mary J. Blige, Nelly, Rihanna, Whitney Houston, Tyra Banks, Bow Wow, Pink, Lisa Marie Presley, Naomi Campbell, Al Gore, Jon Voight and Lionel Richie.
Janet’s choreographer and friend Gil Duldulao has confirmed in a post to his personal blog that Janet’s upcoming tour will start on the West Coast at the end of May. There has yet to be an official announcement regarding tour dates or ticket prices but they are expected shortly.
On Janet’s official MySpace page, fans can now watch Episode 9 of Janet’s MySpace journal. It features Janet dancing and styling the kids for the So Excited video as well as Janet and her troupe visiting a bar after their performance at the Billboard Music Awards in December.
